The conference planning committee recently gathered some data from past conference attendees and has decided to expand the conference for 2007! This year's conference will continue to focus on using handhelds in education, but also highlight some emerging technologies. As a result of this expansion, the conference has evolved into the Mid-Atlantic Handheld & Emerging Technology Conference (MAHETC)! The event is sponsored by Salisbury University (Maryland), Seaford School District and Wicomico County Public Schools and the event will take place July 25-26, 2007 on the campus of Salisbury University! Please note that this is not a pre-conference/conference event. Both days will be filled with a "one-of-a-kind" smorgasbord of sessions and workshops.

The Mid-Atlantic Handheld and Emerging Technology Conference is a not-for-profit endeavor. All money from registration goes towards conference expenses, honorariums, food, door prizes, et cetera.

The conference is sponsored by Salisbury University's Education Department and will take place @ Caruthers Hall, on the campus of Salisbury University.

Costs: The cost of this year's MAHETC are as follows:
 - Full conference (2 days of workshops, concurrent sessions, lunch, door prizes, and t-shirt) - $90.00

 - "Pick Your Day" (1 day of workshops, concurrent sessions, lunch, door prizes, and t-shirt) - $50.00

MAHETC 2007 will take place on July 25-26, 2007 on the campus of Salisbury University. The 2 day conference will include Keynote addresses, 50 minute concurrent sessions as well as half day hands-on workshops.

You are invited to submit a proposal to present @ this year's conference slated for July 25-26, 2007. Presenters and a co-presenter will receive a gift card honorarium from Best Buy for their efforts (as well as get your name in the program/web site, and get a cool certificate). The submission deadline is February 12, 2007. Conference presenters will have the conference registration fee waived.

Ideas for types of presentations: handheld applications, podcasting, videocasting, RSS, wikis, blogs, mobile technology, wireless, social networking, gaming, ipods in the classroom, web applications, digital stories, response pads, smart technology, artificial intelligence, robotics, photo technologies, digital graphic organizers, network topologies, open-source software, electronic portfolios, geo-caching, et cetera.
