Operation, Vision, Application, Leading & Learning

The OVAL technology skills continuum for teachers rooted in the desire to equip educators with the tools to blend teaching and technology.  The OVAL process guides educators as they trek down the bumpy technology road in education.  OVAL hopes to arm educators with basic technology operation skills, then towards meaningful application and integration, and finally leading and learning from technology rich experiences.

Operation – The Operation stage of the continuum focuses on “point-and-click” skills for hardware and software.  This stage will provide the foundation of the latter stages.  Acquiring operation skills in the Microsoft Office Suite and in hardware will give educators confidence as they strive towards integrating technology.

Vision – What do teachers do best? Teach. With the Vision of infusing technology into the curriculum, teachers can teach better. Vision blends current curriculum with effective technology methods.

Application – With operation skills and a clear vision, educators are ready for the Application and integration of technology into teaching. The Application process includes planning, implementing, evaluating, and revamping.

Leading & Learning – With the foundation laid in operation, vision and application skills, educators can be Leaders and continuous learners of technology. This phase directs educators as change agents in educational technology methodology. These leaders become models to teachers trekking through the OVAL skills continuum as well as navigators of their own learning paths in technology.

The OVAL continuum will guide our teacher training in technology and help increase student achievement through effective technology integration in all curricula areas. Come see how you can become “well-rounded” and OVAL!
